The end of the preseason is here. The regular season is close behind.
Grand Canyon's women's basketball team finishes the exhibition portion of the schedule with its second contest against a Division I foe. GCU takes on UNLV at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. Phoenix time Monday.
GCU lost 90-56 last week at the University of Arizona. GCU senior standout Samantha Murphy was the game's leading scorer with 23 points.
The regular season gets underway Friday at the Division II Disney Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim. Grand Canyon will play three games in as many days, with contest against Texas Woman's University, Alaska-Anchorage and UC San Diego.
UC San Diego is ranked No. 11 nationally in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 poll. Alaska-Anchorage is No. 13. Grand Canyon was just outside the Top 25 and among the others receiving votes.
The home season begins Nov. 19 with a contest against Queens College at 5 p.m. in the GCU/Crowne Plaza Tip-Off Classic. On Nov. 20, GCU will play host to Southern Indiana, also receiving votes in the recently released Top 25 poll.
