Grand Canyon head coach
Winston Gandy announced the addition of
Jessica Jenkins to the women's basketball staff in the role of assistant coach.
Jenkins enters Phoenix via Akron, where she spent the past three seasons with the Zips' staff, serving as recruiting coordinator as well as overseeing guards, offensive sets and special teams offense.
Prior to Akron, Jenkins spent seven seasons under her former college coach, Jim Crowley, at Providence. She was the Friars' recruiting coordinator and assistant coach and recruited Big East Freshman of the Year Mary Baskerville.
Jenkins was a star guard at St. Bonaventure, helping lead the team to four consecutive postseason appearances with a record of 98-37, including 41-15 in A-10 play. She left her mark by becoming the A-10's all-time leader in 3-point field goals and averaging 13.9 points per game during her senior season.
Her playing accolades include All-Atlantic 10 first team and being one of 30 finalists for the prestigious Naismith Player of the Year award as a senior, when she led the Bonnies to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
She served as an assistant coach for her alma mater during the 2015-16 campaign, helping guide the squad to a 24-8 record and a 12-4 conference mark. The Bonnies earned an at-large selection that season and advanced to the second round.
Jenkins spent multiple seasons overseas as a professional, playing for league champion Keflavik in Iceland while being named Guard of the Year in her first season. She also played two seasons with the Cardiff Archers in England and one season with the Western Port Steelers in Australia.
