Ahead of Mountain West Media Day in Las Vegas at the Palms Resort, the conference announced the Preseason All-Mountain West Team and major awards along with preseason poll results for order of finish.
Headlining the accolades were GCU freshman
Lanelle Wright, who was named Preseason MW Freshman of the Year, and
T'yana Todd, who garnered Preseason MW Newcomer of the Year.
Todd also joined junior guard
Chloe Mann on the Preseason All-MW Team.
GCU was one of two schools to have multiple players on the All-MW Team, joining UNLV, with both schools finishing one and two, respectively, in the predicted order of finish.
GCU claimed 180 total points and five first-place votes to finish second in the order, behind UNLV at 193 votes and 16 first-place votes. UC Davis (third), Hawai'i (fourth) and New Mexico (fifth, one first-place vote) rounding out the top five.
Wright joined GCU after a stellar high school career at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. There, she totaled over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds with a rating of 93 and a four-star recruit via SportsCenter.
She enters GCU ranked No. 79 in the SportsCenter NEXT Top 100 and No. 69 nationally via 247sports.
Wright also competed at USA Women's U17 National Trials in the summer of 2024 and earned multiple accolades including Adidas All-American, Minneapolis Star All-State and All-Metro and was a McDonald's All-American nominee.
Todd joined GCU this past summer after a season at Ohio State in 2025-26 and three seasons at Boston College (2022-25), where she totaled over 1,100 points, 250 rebounds, 100 steals and is a 37% three-point shooter.
The Vaughan, Ontario, Canada native has averaged double figures in three of her four seasons and is a career 84% free throw shooter, shooting 78% or better in each season played.
Todd appeared in 35 games last season for the Buckeyes, making nine starts, and has started in 81 of 122 games played throughout her career.
Mann returns to GCU after leading the Lopes in scoring last season, averaging 13.0 points with 415 total. Her points per game ranked 10th among MW players a season ago while her 84.1 free throw percentage was fourth best in the league.
Mann started in all 32 games played, racking up 106 rebounds, 97 assists and 38 steals with 43 made three-pointers.
GCU begins competition Tuesday, Oct. 27 with an exhibition against former MW school Utah State at Global Credit Union Arena. The regular season opener is Nov. 4 versus Jackson State, followed by home games against Oregon (Nov. 9) and Gonzaga (Nov. 13).
