WAIPAHU, Hawaii -- Grand Canyon men's tennis team wrapped up its trip to Hawaii with a loss at Hawai'i Pacific Thursday, falling 9-0 to the Sea Warriors.
Three of the Antelopes battled food poisoning, but the team gutted it out nonetheless.
Grand Canyon's No. 1 doubles team of Eric Schroeder and Brian Kirby gave Hendrik Bode and Sebastian Bader a highly-contested battle at the top pairs flight, bu lost 8-6.
At the No. 5 singles flight, GCU's Andrew Zappala (pictured) lost to Jonathan Lee, 6-3, 6-1 in one of the more competitive individual matches.
"It was a rough final match with three players dealing with food poisoning, but at the same time it was the best performance of the trip," GCU coach Greg Prudhomme said. "I was proud of the guys for taking the court, and leaving it all out there."
Grand Canyon will host Mesa State at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale.
