'Lopes, Vulcans Play to Scoreless Draw 
Despite advantages in shots (20-5), shots on goal (8-2) and corner kicks (9-0), the Grand Canyon University (GCU) women's soccer team could not defeat Hawai'i-Hilo. Instead, the teams battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw tonight at the GCU Soccer Field.
The Antelopes now are 4-5-2 overall, 1-3-2 in the Pacific West Conference. The Vulcans are 3-5-2, 2-1-1.
Senior midfielder/forward Nichole Elias (pictured, Tucson, AZ/Saguaro) led the GCU offensive attack with four shots, three of them on goal. The 'Lopes had shot advantages of 9-0 in the first half and 3-0 in the first overtime period.
Hawai'i-Hilo goalkeeper Shanna Brown recorded eight saves.
The 'Lopes return to action on Saturday, when they host Chaminade at 5 p.m. at the GCU Soccer Field.
