GCU Women Rout Chaminade, 7-0 ![]()

The Grand Canyon University (GCU) women's soccer team dominated every statistical category against Chaminade, including the one that counted most -- goals -- as the Antelopes routed the Silverswords, 7-0, tonight at the GCU Soccer Field.
Junior forward Kayla Poe (pictured, Mesa, AZ/Dobson) and senior midfielder/forward Kaylen Jackson (Tucson, AZ/Amphitheater) each scored twice and senior midfielder forwardNichole Elias (Tucson, AZ/Saguaro), junior midfielder/forward Michelle Martinez (Avondale, AZ/Agua Fria) and senior defender Kianna Sharp (Tucson, AZ/Tucson Magnet) had one goal apiece for the 'Lopes, who raised their record to 5-5-2, 2-3-2 in the Pacific West Conference. The Silverswords fell to 0-8, 0-5.
GCU had 27 shots in the first half. Chaminade had just one -- for the entire game.
Junior Mileena Buchei (Stansbury, UT/Grantsville) and freshman Shelby Bartusek (Arvada, CO/Faith Christian) combined on the shutout.
The 'Lopes host Western Washington at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the GCU Soccer Field.
