Amit Maharaj enters his ninth season with the Grand Canyon tennis program and seventh as assistant coach in 2019-20.

During the 2017 season Maharaj helped the Women's team become regular-season WAC Champions going 11-6 and a perfect 5-0 in conference play.
In the 2016 season, Maharaj helped guide the men's program to a WAC championship and a 13-7 record overall. Maharaj also assisted the women's team to their sixth consecutive winning record, ending the season at 9-8.
In 2015, Maharaj helped guide both the men’s and women’s programs to winning records in their second season as Division I programs. Additionally, the women’s program went undefeated in conference play, capturing the regular-season WAC title.

Maharaj, who served two seasons as a graduate assistant, played tennis at the Division I level at Utah and Utah State. He was named the Most Valuable Player in his senior season at USU.

After graduation, Maharaj served as the head coach for Glendale Community College.
