Spencer Hing is in his first season as the Associate Head Coach for Grand Canyon University men's and women's tennis teams.
Prior to his appointment, Spencer was the graduate assistant for the GCU men's tennis team in the 2021 spring season. In that season, he helped the Lopes capture the WAC regular season and tournament titles as the program made their second NCAA Tournament appearance in three seasons.
Individually the Lopes swept the three major WAC awards while earning seven first team honors in singles and doubles under Hing and head coach Greg Prudhomme.
For the last 10 years, Spencer has been a player development specialist, developing top ranked junior players in the Southwest Section. Many of his players have been awarded Collegiate tennis scholarships and have gone on to play at colleges, such as USC, Utah and Gonzaga.
Spencer was the assistant coach for the men's team at Scottsdale Community College in 2012-13, winning the regional tournament and finishing fourth at the NJCAA tournament.Â
Spencer is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and was awarded the 30 and under Professional of the Year award in 2019.
