Futsum Mebrahtu is in his first year as a graduate assistant with the GCU men’s and women’s cross country teams in 2015-16.
Mebrahtu competed for Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., as well as Phoenix College. While at Queens, he twice placed at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships.
Mebrahtu helped the cross country team to back-to-back seventh-place finishes at the Division II Championships.
Mebrahtu was an All-American runner at the NJCAA Cross Country Championships with Phoenix College. Additionally, he claimed first place at the 2008 Region I Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters.
Mebrahtu attended North High School in Phoenix where he named to the Arizona all-state team after his fourth-place finish at the 2006 5A Division II High School Championships.
