Ramiz Sabljic is in his sixth year with the Grand Canyon University men’s soccer program. Sabljic is responsible for overseeing the team’s goalkeepers, which included two-time Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honoree Joshua Zehring in 2014.
Sabljic also worked with Ben Paneccasio, who was named Pacific West Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009 and 2010 after leading the league in goals-against average, shutouts and shutouts per game.
Since May 2008, he has been a staff trainer and director of goalkeeping for the CISCO Soccer Club. He also has been the director of goalkeeping for Arizona Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program since July 2007 and the academy director and trainer for the Arizona Goalkeeping Academy since January 2007. From 2004-08, he was a staff trainer and goalkeeping coach for West Valley United Soccer Club Premier.
He has held two positions at Phoenix College, as women’s assistant coach and goalkeeper coach from February 2007-July 2009 and as men’s assistant coach and goalkeeper coach from January 2006-February 2008. From August 2004-February 2007, he was the boy’s varsity soccer coach at Cortez High School in Phoenix. He also spent one season as girl’s goalkeeper coach at Horizon High School in Scottsdale in 2009, helping the Huskies to the state championship.
Originally from Yugoslavia, he now resides in Tempe.
