Father, Jeff, played basketball (one season) and football (three seasons) at Illinois from 1986 to 1991.
Younger brother, Nick, plays basketball at Army, where he is a sophomore in 2018-19.

Earned his bachelor's degree in Communication from Illinois in December 2017.
