Tyler Packanik joined the GCU baseball staff as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator in June 2026, reuniting with head coach Steve Bieser after working alongside him at Missouri and Jacksonville State.
Packanik arrived in Phoenix after three seasons on Bieser's staff at Jacksonville State, where he helped the Gamecocks complete the most accomplished Division I season in program history in 2026. Jacksonville State went 48-15, won Conference USA regular-season and tournament championships, advanced to an NCAA Regional final and finished the season ranked No. 21 nationally.
As Jacksonville State's recruiting coordinator, Packanik quickly elevated the Gamecocks' recruiting profile. His first class with the program earned a No. 87 national ranking from Perfect Game, marking Jacksonville State's highest-ranked class since Perfect Game began ranking recruiting classes in 2011.
Packanik also played a key role in the Gamecocks' position-player development, defense and baserunning. In 2026, Jacksonville State led Conference USA in batting average, hits, doubles, on-base percentage, sacrifice bunts, sacrifice flies and double plays. The Gamecocks ranked second nationally with 74 sacrifice bunts, fifth with 40 sacrifice flies, 13th with 52 double plays and 17th with 127 doubles. Jacksonville State also remained active on the bases under Packanik's direction, swiping 106 bases in 2026 after stealing 92 in 2024 — the program's highest total since 2010.
Before joining Bieser at Jacksonville State, Packanik spent three seasons under Bieser at Missouri, working extensively with the Tigers' defense — especially on the infield — while also overseeing baserunning instruction.
Prior to Missouri, Packanik served as Stetson's director of personnel and video coordination from 2018 to 2020. In that role, he led the Hatters' scouting and video operations, analyzed Stetson and opponent film, prepared scouting reports and helped integrate data from FlightScope, DiamondKinetics and BATS systems into coaching and recruiting.
Packanik began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Bucknell in 2017-18, coaching infielders, assisting with hitters, serving as first-base coach, managing infield alignment and coordinating prospect and team camps.
A native of Plant City, Florida, Packanik graduated from Marietta College in 2016.
