Named the 2019 Spalding National Junior College Athletic Association DII Player of the Year after hitting .465 with a .538 on-base percentage and an .897 slugging percentage. He had 18 home runs and 69 RBIs while striking out just 12 times.
As a sophomore, also was a First Team All-American, Iowa Community College Athletic Conference DII Player of the Year, ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Region XI, and earned All-Tournament team honors at the NJCAA DII World Series.
In 2019, ranked highly on national leaderboards in batting average (fifth, .465), hits (third, 86), home runs (t-fourth, 18), RBIs (t-fourth, 69) and slugging percentage (fourth, .897).
Combined with a .383 average as a freshman, Smith hit .427 during his two-year Hawks career with 29 home runs compared to 26 strikeouts.
A member of the school's first-ever baseball team in 2018 and led the Hawks to a 37-19 mark with a trip to the NJCAA DII World Series in their second season in 2019.
