GCU aims for 4th consecutive win, 12-8 conference record

Grand Canyon heads on the road for one final time in the regular season to take on Wyoming on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. Phoenix time.
AT A GLANCE
Coming off a 13-point victory in their regular-season home finale Saturday, the Lopes look to extend their winning streak to a season-best four games with their final road test at Wyoming.Â
In the past three wins, GCU has held opponents to 52 points or fewer, averaging 45 points allowed since Feb. 21. The defense has shined in those games, forcing 60 turnovers. The Lopes rank third in the conference with just more than 17 forced turnovers per game.
GCU ranks as one of the best free throw shooting teams in the nation and is coming off a 13-for-14 game at the charity stripe. The Lopes rank 48th in the nation and second in the Mountain West in free throw shooting at 75.9%.
Sophomore guard Chloe Mann, who scored nine points and added six boards against San Jose State, is second in the conference in free throw shooting (84.5%).
GCU has made seven or more 3-pointers in four of its past six games, including 10 against the Spartans to tie for the second most this season. Freshman Diamond Wright sank 4 of 6 attempts from deep and scored a career-best 18 points.Â
The Lopes grabbed 45 rebounds versus the Spartans, the eighth game in which it has notched 41 or more boards this season. GCU is 7-1 is such contests.Â
Leading the Lopes in rebounding is junior Julianna LaMendola, who has pulled down 129 in MW play. She is averaging 12.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists against conference foes this season.Â
THIS GAME
GCU faces Wyoming in Laramie for the first time in program history in the regular-season finale Tuesday evening.
The Lopes are locked into the sixth seed for the MW Championship in Las Vegas, while Wyoming is currently ninth, one game back of Air Force and one game ahead of Nevada.Â
A win for GCU would be its fourth in a row, a season high.Â
SCOUTING WYOMING
Wyoming (9-19, 6-13 MW) holds a 7-6 record at home and a 2-13 showing on the road.Â
Cowgirls forward Jane Rumpf recently took home Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors and is second in the conference in blocks per game (1.36).
Malene Pedersen is one of the top scorers in the conference with a 16.7 scoring average that ranks second. She also ranks fourth in field goal percentage (44.1%).
Wyoming averages just more than 21 3-pointers per game, with Rumpf and Pedersen taking the third and fourth most attempts in the MW this season.Â
The Cowgirls average 12.6 fouls per game, seventh lowest in the nation.Â
Wyoming limits offensive rebounds for opposing teams by averaging 26.9 defensive rebounds per game, fourth most in the conference.Â
The Cowgirls are 1-6 since facing GCU on Jan. 31.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
GCU has locked into the No. 6 seed for the Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas. Game 1 will be Saturday, March 7, against the No. 11 seed.
