Grand Canyon closes out the 2025-26 regular season home slate Saturday afternoon versus San José State. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. on Arizona's Family Channel 3 and MW Network.Â
AT A GLANCE
With the season drawing to a close, GCU enters Saturday winners of two straight with two games left until the MW Championship in Las Vegas, March 7-10.Â
The Lopes have held each of its last opponents to 43 and 42 points, respectively, totaling 85 points allowed in that two game stretch. That is a season low over two games played and fewest since Jan. 27 & Feb. 1, 2024 (75 points).
GCU grabbed 44 rebounds against Fresno State Wednesday, third most in a game this season. It is 5-0 when securing 42 or more boards and 6-3 when grabbing 40 or more. Anisa Jeffries had 10 rebounds in that game, notching her second double-double of the season with 10 points to her statline.Â
The defense has forced 60 turnovers over its past three games, moving to third in the conference with 17 forced TO's per outing. It has also pocketed 23 steals in that span, with Jeffries tied for fifth in the MW in steals per game in conference play (1.7).
Junior Julianna LaMendola leads the way with 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in league action. LaMendola is third in the MW with a 46.9 field goal shooting percentage.
Junior Holly Griffiths is coming off a career best rebounding night agaisnt her former team, toaling seven boards while adding two points and a block.
Sophomore Chloe Mann continues to be the best free throw shooter in the conference, shooting 84.1% from the line and making 106 out of 126 attempts. She went 6 of 8 against Fresno State and is averaging 11.3 points in conference play.
THIS GAME
For the final time in the 2025-26 regular season, GCU plays at Global Credit Union Arena, facing San José State.Â
The Lopes won the first contest by 20 in late December, the program's first victory against a Mountain West opponent.Â
San José State enters Phoenix 4-25 overall and 2-16 in Mountain West action. It is 0-16 in away contests this season.Â
The Spartans attempt the most three pointers per game in the league, averaging 25 attempts from beyond the arc. They make just over seven a game, third highest in the conference.Â
SJSU also gets to the line quite frequently, averaging 16 free throws a game, third most in the MW.Â
The defense is averaging 4.0 blocks per outing, second most and only .1 behind league leader Wyoming. Gabriela Pato is second in the MW with 37 blocks on the season.Â
Maya Anderson leads the conference with 413 field goals attempted. She is the squad's leader in points per game (13.8) with 401 total points on the season, and also leads in total rebounds (186) and rebounds per game (6.4).
Allie Cummins leads the team with a 32.6% three point percentage, making 43 from beyond the arc.Â
McKenna Simons makes her return to Global Credit Union Arena. Simons was a member of the Lopes for three seasons from 2021-24.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
GCU closes out the regular season on the road Tuesday evening at Wyoming. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. MST on the Mountain West Network.
The Lopes then head to Las Vegas to compete in the Mountain West Championship. GCU will play in the tournament's first day Saturday, March 7. Time and seed is to be determined.Â
