After a fourth-place women's finish and the first men's title since 2019, Grand Canyon cross country claimed three of the four Mountain West weekly honors.

Michael Archie was honored as the MW Athlete of the Week for the men's side after he won the Biola Invitational individual title on Friday in Fullerton, California.
Archie, who is from Humble, Texas, recorded a time of 24 minutes, 11.1 seconds in the 8KÂ while running an average mile time of 4:51.9.
In his first cross country competition after enrolling at GCU in the spring, Archie also broke the Ted Craig Regional Park course record, leading to his strong bid for for the honor in the program's first season as a Mountain West member.Â

June Zimmerman, who is from Orem, Utah, put up an impressive display in her second collegiate meet. Zimmerman finished 11
th in the women's competition to be the fastest Lope, running a time of 18:33.7 in the 5K race.
Zimmerman continues to improve, which was displayed in her average mile time of 5:58.4, which was approximately 46 seconds faster per mile than the pace she ran at the George Kyte Classic in Flagstaff, Arizona, two weekends ago.Â
Archie Budding, a GCU freshman who is from Ilkyley, England, had an impressive weekend as well by taking sixth place overall in Fullerton. He was the second-best finisher for the Lopes, running a 24:26.3 in the 8K.
With the help of the Mountain West weekly honorees, the men's team was able to claim its first team tournament title since 2019.
GCU will head to Tucson, Arizona, next to compete in the Dave Murray Invitational on Saturday.
