A premier New Jersey forward from one of the nation's best prep schools, Junior Diouf has signed with Grand Canyon men's soccer.
Diouf arguably had one of the best high school seasons in the country, scoring 26 goals and tallying 11 assists to lead St. Benedict's Prep to a 20-0 record and a Non-Public A title.
Diouf played the fall season under coach Jim Wandling in Newark, where St. Benedict's Prep is renown for boys soccer with 15 national championships, including nine under Wandling. Diouf was the centerpiece to another Essex County Tournament title and Non-Public A title, leading the Gray Bees to the No. 1 spot via NJ.com rankings.
"Anytime Diouf had the ball at his foot, it was a must-see event as his plus speed, dribbling and awareness made him one of the state's top goal scorers," NJ Advance Media said in placing him on its all-state's first team.
St. Benedict's outscored opponents 98-5 with 13 shutouts and won its title 1-0 with Diouf's game-winning goal. He also scored two goals in a win against nationally ranked St. Ignatius, had a game-winning goal against St. Peter's Prep and scored in the country final victory.
The dominant season led to a No. 1 national ranking via United Soccer Coaches Fall Boys Team Rankings.
Diouf is also a product of Rise Academy Senegal, who is quickly becoming a top club that has produced many players in the collegiate soccer landscape and European professional landscape.Â
