Lopes hold 13-6 record against Power 4 competition entering Tuesday's nonconference finale

Grand Canyon concludes its nonconference schedule with a Tuesday meeting at Arizona State. The Lopes are aiming for their third straight win against the Sun Devils with a first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

NONCONFERENCE SLATE: GCU concludes the 2025 nonconference slate on Tuesday. The Lopes have had great success in nonconference games, holding a 13-6 record against Power 4 competition. GCU has multiple victories over Arizona, Stanford, Texas Tech and Rutgers with single wins over Nebraska, Oregon and Arizona State.
PELC'S IMPRESSIVE WEEK: Graduate center fielder Eddy Pelc was named the WAC's top player after an 11-for-19 (.579) week in games against Arizona and Stanford. He has homered in six of the last 10 games.
LOPES AND DEVILS: GCU and ASU meet for the 122nd time, and the Lopes are aiming for their third consecutive win against the Sun Devils. GCU finished last year's two-game series with a home victory and also defended the home turf on April 22 this year. In that game, senior left fielder Michael Diaz hit a game-winning home run.

SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE

Like the Lopes, Arizona State has a critical week ahead for postseason implications. The Sun Devils are in second in the Big 12 with a weekend awaiting against Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Despite Arizona State's placing in the Big 12 standings, the Sun Devils have a 45 RPI. Arizona State has won nine of its last 11 games and its last four Big 12 series.

Offensively, the Sun Devils have been strong in 2025, posting a team batting average of .319 and slugging percentage of .528, both top-tier marks nationally. Matt King (.384), Kyle Walker (.363), and Landon Hairston (.363) have led a deep and consistent lineup that has launched 76 home runs and stolen 106 bases. ASU has scored 8.6 runs per game while limiting opponents to a .250 average.
