LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team entered Tuesday's second round of the WAC Championship in fourth place and left the course in the same position, carding a 7-over-par second round to move its overall score to 18 over for the tournament.
GCU has an uphill climb heading into Wednesday's final 18 holes at Wigwam Golf Club, facing a 17-stroke deficit behind first-place Tarleton State. Abilene Christian is in second place at 8 over, followed by UT Arlington in third at 17 over par.
The Lopes will tee off Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. on hole No. 1 with California Baptist and Utah Tech. The winner of the WAC Championship earns the conference's automatic bid to an NCAA Regional.

Lena Tremouille and senior
Anci Dy tied for 13th at 4 over par. Preap had the best second-round score on the team, going even par with four birdies, including three on the front nine.Her eight birdies for the tournament are tied for second most among the 43-player field.
Tremouille shot 1 over Tuesday with three birdies, catching fire early on her back nine with back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11. The France native leads the team in par-5 scoring with a 2-under total through 36 holes.
Dy, who entered the day tied for first, shot 5 over with two birdies to move to 4 over overall.
Graduate
Calynne Rosholt is 29th at 9 over, followed by GCU senior teammate
Alyzzah Vakasiuola in 32nd at 12 over.
The Lopes lead the field with 116 pars and are tied for third with 21 birdies.
