Grand Canyon was ranked as the best mid-major team in the nation via D1 Softball. They also received votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (26th), ESPN/USA Softball (32nd) and D1Softball (28th) top-25 rankings this week.

Lopes sophomore Savannah Kirk was ranked as the 10th-best second-baseman in the nation via Softball America. She ranks sevebtg in the country in hits (33) and stolen bases (18).

GCU is one of three teams in the country to have three pitchers (junior Taryn Batterton, senior Meghan Golden and sophomore Maggie Place) with five wins, joining No. 2 Texas and No. 4 Texas A&M
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S (6:30 p.m. Thursday)
- Saint Joseph's is 7-8 this season. The Hawks are disciplined at the plate, striking out the least and walking the most at the plate among the Purple Classic field.
- GCU holds a 2-0 record against Saint Joseph's all-time, winning the one match up at GCU Softball Stadium.
SCOUTING PENN (5 p.m. Friday)
- The Quakers enter the weekend with a 1-5 record, just participating in two weekends of play thus far.
- GCU has never played Penn.
SCOUTING UNLV (7:30 p.m. Friday)
- The Rebels enter with a 13-6 record. Like the Lopes, they enter the weekend on a four-game winning streak after getting two wins apiece over UC Santa Barbara and Creighton.
- GCU is 1-3 all-time against UNLV, going 0-3 at home.
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO (7:30 p.m. Saturday)
- The Toreros are 9-13 through four weeks of the season. San Diego already played Utah State three times this season. losing all three. The teams meet up for a fourth time this weekend.
- The Lopes are 7-0 all-time against San Diego, winning five on the road and going 1-0 at home against USD.
SCOUTING UTAH STATE (2 p.m. Sunday)
- Utah State enters the weekend with a 12-8 record, going 1-4 last weekend in Phoenix during the GCU/ASU Invite. GCU run-ruled the Aggies 11-3 in five innings on Fridayt.
- GCU is 4-1 against Utah State all-time, winning two out of three games played at GCU Softball Stadium.

- The Lopes went 4-0, run-ruling two opponents.

GCU freshman Jada Cooper took home WAC Player of the Week honors for Week 4 after homering each day of the GCU/ASU Invite. Cooper is hitting .404 through the first 19 games of her collegiate career.
- Grand Canyon knocked off UTEP, whose pitching coach, Ariel Thompson, was a massive part in the circle for GCU's three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances since 2022..
WHAT'S NEXT?

GCU finally hit the road when they begin WAC play at Utah Valley on March 14-15 for a three-game series. The Lopes beat the Wolverines in a WAC Tournament semifinal last year.
