A pair of future conference foes match up in midweek action from Albuquerque. First pitch between Grand Canyon and New Mexico is set for 5 p.m. (Phoenix time).
The game will be streamed for free on the Mountain West Network, available on web and a variety of platforms.
3 THINGS TO KNOW
- MW PREVIEW: Grand Canyon will join New Mexico as members of the Mountain West Conference no later than July 1, 2026. Once the membership transition is complete, the conference will feature eight baseball members. New Mexico will be one of three Mountain West members within a 450-mile drive of GCU's campus (UNLV, UTEP).
- RPI RELEASE: The difficult road stretch that has included games against top-10 foes Oregon and Oregon State and a key series win at Abilene Christian has rewarded GCU. The Lopes check in at No. 52 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings.
- CONTROL: GCU's pitching staff has continued the theme of control in 2025, ranking seventh nationally in walks per nine innings (3.07) and 29th nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.82). The Lopes will be put to the test on Tuesday in a traditionally offensive ballpark at altitutde against a top-10 offensive club.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO
New Mexico is routinely one of the best offensive clubs nationally, and it's more of the same in 2025. The Lobos are hitting .328 and slugging .551, both top-11 marks nationally.
The Lobos opened Mountain West Conference play with four consecutive victories, sweeping UNLV and taking the first game from Nevada. The Wolf Pack responded to win the final two games of the series.
As good as its offense has been, New Mexico has an 8.39 team ERA that ranks 256th nationally. The Lobos surrendered 31 runs in their weekend series in Reno including a 20-4 seven-inning loss in the middle game.
