The 13th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is on the road Friday and Saturday to compete in four dual matches in Austin for the East Meets West Invitational.
On Friday, the Lopes will face No. 12 LSU at 8:30 a.m. (Phoenix time) and host No. 10 Texas at 11 a.m.before Saturday matches against No. 18 Georgia State at 6:30 a.m. and N0. 20 FIU 9:30 a.m.
Scouting LSU
- The Tigers are 1-3 against ranked teams this season.
- Last season, the Lopes defeated LSU 3-2 at a neutral site match in Florida.
Scouting Texas
- The Longhorns are currently undefeated at home (4-0), but have yet to host a ranked squad. GCU will be the first matchup for Texas over the weekend.
- The two programs have only met once previously with GCU taking the win 5-0.
Scouting Georgia State
- GSU currently has a record of 8-9, coming off of matches with USC, TCU, FAU and Stetson.
- The Lopes are 4-2 against the Panthers but dropped last season's match and are looking to get revenge.
Scouting FIU
- FIU is currently 3-7 in neutral-site matches this season.
- GCU won the last match 3-2 back in 2023. Jessica Drake is the only remaining Lope from the starting lineup during that match.
What's next?
Following the four matches in Austin, Texas GCU will return home to co-host a tournament with ASU Mar. 28-29. The weekend will include senior day and the second night match at home for GCU.
