Heroics from Drake sisters clinch first match

AUSTIN, Texas. — The No. 13 Grand Canyon beach volleyball team split Saturday's matches, securing a 3-2 victory over No. 12 LSU before falling 4-1 to No. 10 Texas.

GCU opened the day with a hard-fought win against LSU, clinching the dual with victories in Flights 2, 3, and 5. Madi Bogle and Regan Holmer got the Lopes on the board first with a 22-20, 21-12 win in Flight 5. Rhea Kohl and Ines Piret delivered in three sets, battling back for an 18-21, 22-20, 15-11 triumph. Jess and Becca Drake followed won a tight 21-19, 21-19 victory in Flight 3, securing the 3-2 victory.
