Young named WAC women's freshman of the year

WAC Championship performance included 1st, 3rd place finishes
Grand Canyon swimmer Beth Young was named Western Athletic Conference women's freshman of the year Tuesday.
Young earned the title of WAC Women's Freshman of the Year after scoring 36 individual points at the conference championships, the highest in the freshman class from any tea,. Young, a Felixstowe, England native, secured 1st place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.76 before claiming third place in the 200 breaststroke, finishing at 2:14.75.
Young additionally set the school record in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.07 seconds before breaking that at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships when she went 27.91 seconds to claim 3rd place out of 53 swimmers competing in the event.Â
