3 THINGS TO KNOW
- BOUNCE BACK: The Lopes are coming off of back-to-back losses against top-15 opponents (CSUN and Long Beach). The last time that happened, GCU responded by going on a six match win-streak into the final four, which included an MPSF title win.Â
- 250 WINS: After two wins at home against UC San Diego, the Lopes currently sit at 249 wins as a team, with this week providing opportunities to reach 250.Â
- HISTORY:Â The Lopes have won the last three matches against Pepperdine. The last time the GCU visited Malibu, both matches went to five sets with the squads splitting results.Â
SCOUTING PEPPERDINE
Pepperdine has played 10 of it's first 11 matches at home. The Waves' Matt Mazur ranks fifth in the NCAA in hitting percentage with a mark of .461. As a team they hit at a clip of .394 which is currently the second best behind only No. 1 Long Beach. Pepperdine is led by Jonathan Winder who is in his third year at the helm and currently has the Waves at a record of 8-3.Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lopes will return home after four straight road matches to host Penn State from Mar. 8-9.
