The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team released its 2025 schedule, looking to regain the program's recent success.
The Lopes are set to compete in nine events this season with two home weekend-long events and a new conference.
Â
"I am really looking forward to seeing our team compete in such a nationally competitive schedule," GCU second-year head coach
Abra Rummel said. "The ladies have worked hard to put themselves in a position to be successful against any team this year."
Â
The Lopes return conference honoreesÂ
Karynn Garrow andÂ
Becca Drake, who were each named to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association's All-Freshman Team. Garrow was a unanimous selection after she played much of last season as part of the No. 3 pair with wins against No. 19 Arizona, No. 18 Stetson and No. 12 Hawai'i twice. Drake took a victory in the team win against LSU as part of the No. 4 pair.
Â
GCU also returns seniorÂ
Jessica Drake, who was selected to the all-conference team after posting a 15-match win streak with 10 victories against top-20 opponents.
Â
The Lopes will begin the season by hosting a pair of in-state opponents, Arizona and Arizona Christian, on Feb. 22 before continuing the weekend action against Saint Mary's and Benedictine Mesa on Feb. 23.
Â
"The schedule also highlights our first home night matches in a number of years against nationally recognized competition," Rummel said.
Â
GCU will take its first road trip to go south to Tucson and play Stetson, Arizona, Boise State and Arizona State on Feb. 28 and March 1.
Â
The Lopes then will head to Stanford to face off with the newly formed Mountain Pacific Sports Federation beach teams in a midseason event. On March 7, the Lopes will take on four-peat champion USC before facing Cal. The second day of the event will include matchups against UCLA and Oregon.
Â
GCU will go to Cal Poly, where it has not played since 2021.
Â
The Lopes will then head to Austin, Texas, for the first time in program history. The only previous match between the two programs was a 5-0 win for the Lopes in 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Â
GCU will also battle LSU in a rematch of last season, when the Lopes defeated the then-No. 8 Tigers 3-2.
Â
On the second day of the competition, the Rummel-led Lopes will play against Georgia State and FIU.
Â
GCU will return to Phoenix to dual host with Arizona State. The Lopes will take on UTEP, South Carolina and UAB at GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium on March 28 and 29.
Â
The team is also set to return to Honolulu to face the Rainbow Warriors on April 12.
Â
The regular-season finale will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, against Missouri State and Louisiana Monroe before taking on Houston Christian and host TCUÂ on April 18.
Â
The MPSF Championships will be held April 23-25 in Huntington Beach, California.
"We are very thankful for the opportunity to compete against the best of the best in our new conference this year," Rummel said. "We are grateful for our administration's efforts to allow us to showcase what we can do on a national stage and what better place than the MPSF to do so."
