Lopes head to Fort Collins for Ram Volleyball Classic

The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team plays its first road matches of the season this weekend, opening Friday against Central Arkansas before facing No. 12 Oregon and host Colorado State.

GCU heads to Colorado State, where the Rams had an attendance of 7,507 while hosting No. 11 Florida on Friday to rank as the ninth highest-attended match of the week.
Despite losing seven seniors, the Ducks rank No.12 in the country after reaching the Elite Eight last season.
The Lopes faced Central Arkansas once previously, a 3-0 victory in 1999. Saturday and Sunday will mark the first GCU matches against the Ducks and Rams.

After one weekend of action, Lopes junior outside hitter Tatum Parrott ranks 19th in the country in attacks per set (12.1), 17th in kills per set (4.9) and 14th in kills (59).
Along with Parrott, sophomore outside hitter Ellie Frey landed on the All-GCU Invitational Team after acquiring 41 kills, 26 digs and five blocks in 12 sets.
Freshman setter Taylor Kubacak is averaging a double-double through three matches, including a victory against Oregon State in wihch she put up 45 assists and 10 digs in just four sets.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lopes return home for the GCU Classic at Global Credit Union Arena, where they will face Portland State, Butler and Pacific on Sept. 13-15.
