Summer Grubbs set GCU records this weekend at the Jim Click Multis in the first multi-event competitions of the season.
Tow, a junior from Sweet Home, Oregon, finished the weekend with a school-record score of 5,7493 points. The Navy transfer is in his first outdoor season with the Lopes. The performance broke an 8-year-old GCU record.
Grubbs, a senior, broke a school record with her heptathlon score of 5,344 points. Grubbs finished fifth in the javelin portion with a mark just over 119 feet.
The Lopes also had
Blayk Kelton and
Jackson Smith competing in select events.
"I honestly don't know if I have words to describe how phenomenal this group is," GCU associate head coach
Todd Lehman said. "They crushed the weekend."
In total, the squad set 30 personal bests.
The rest of the Lopes will be back in action next week at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California.
