Trierweiler earns WAC Player of the Week

GCU has earned 7 WAC weekly awards this season
Grand Canyon graduate first baseman Ashley Trierweiler garnered WAC Player of the Week after a strong performance last week.Â
The Lopes (39-10, 17-3 WAC) defeated Arizona State and won their seventh consecutive conference series to maintain a four-game lead in WAC season standings over second-place California Baptist.Â
Trierweiler, who leads the nation in hits (76) and ranks fourth for batting average (.469), swung for a .677 average last week with 10 hits, six RBIs, three doubles, a home run and a ,1.067 slugging percentage. The 2023 All-American also recorded a .625 on-base percentage with two stolen bases while contributing 29 putouts, one assist and a 1.000 fielding percentage.Â
This marks the seventh WAC weekly honor of the season with six WAC Player of the Week Awards going to four players, including graduate right fielder Kristin Fifield (three times), graduate designated player Ramsay Lopes and graduate shortstop Katelyn Dunckel.
GCU makes its final regular-season WAC road trip to Stephen F. Austin for a Friday doubleheader and Saturday series finale.
