The 17th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is on the road Friday and Saturday to compete in four matches in Stanford. On Friday, the Lopes will face California (9 a.m. Phoenix time) and Stanford (11 a.m.) before Saturday begins with a Washington match (9 a.m.) and ends with UC Davis (11 a.m.). This will mark the final regular season matches of the year for the Lopes.
Scouting California
- The Lopes are 6-0 against the Golden Bears all-time which dates back to their first match in 2016.
- California currently ranks No.8 in the nation with a record of 18-10.
Scouting Stanford
- Currently 24-3 with a most recent 5-0 victories against Pacific and Arizona, ranked No.3
- The last time GCU faced off with Stanford, the Lopes were eliminated in the 2023 NCAA Tournament in a tight 3-2 match that game down to the final set. The Lopes will look to gain revenge on the Cardinal's great start to the season.
Scouting Washington
- Washington holds an 18-11 record this season, with its most recent ranked match resulting in a loss to Georgia State. The Huskies are 6-11 versus ranked opponents.
- Washington, currently ranked No.12 defeated the Lopes earlier in the season. At that time, Mackenzie Harris and Jessica Drake began their 15 match win streak and freshman duo of Karynn Garrow and Adriana Serrano Ferro had yet to be paired together where they are now 9-1.
- The Lopes are 3-1 against the Huskies all-time with the last win coming in April of 2022, when GCU got the sweep.
Scouting UC Davis
- The Aggies are currently 16-13 with their last match coming against Pepperdine in a 4-1 loss.
- This will mark the third match between GCU and UC Davis in which the Lopes have swept 5-0 victories in both prior matches.
What's next?
Following the four matches in Stanford, the Lopes will head to Huntsville, Ala. for the conference tournament which will take place April 26-27.
