The Grand Canyon men's golf team stays in its home state as it travels to Maricopa to partake in the two-day Cowboy Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes course.
The tournament is the second to last before the WAC Championship in Payson April 26-28. The Lopes have finished top-five in three of their four tournaments this spring and six times since the season began September 17th.
The Ak-Chin Southern Dunes course is a par-72 at 7,546 yards. GCU recently placed 13th out of 21 schools last season in Chandler and 9th out of 23 teams in 2021 in Maricopa.
GCU is one of 23 teams competing in the tournament, which will play 36 holes Monday followed by the final 18 holes Tuesday morning. The Lopes rank No. 70 in the most recent Scoreboard Clippd rankings, fifth highest among the field that also includes No. 48 Long Beach State, No. 49 UNLV, No. 61 Kansas, and No. 68 CSU Fullerton. GCU is one of four WAC teams in the field, joining Utah Valley, UT Arlington and Southern Utah.
The full 23 team field includes Air Force, UTEP, USC, Utah Valley, GCU, Southern Utah, Utah State, UNLV, Kansas, Northern Colorado, Weber State, St. Mary's, Iowa State, UC Davis, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, Kennesaw State, UT Arlington, Wichita State, Hawaii, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge and host school Wyoming.
GCU will field seniors
