The Grand Canyon track and field team owned the first WAC weekly awards of the outdoor season, winning three of the four honors.
Lopes sophomore
Germain Lemaitre is the WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after running the conference's fastest 800-meter time (1 minute, 50.94 seconds) at Saturday's Spring Break Fiesta in Tucson. The Frenchman's 800 mark is the sixth fastest in the West Region and 11th fastest nationally.
GCU junior
Taryn Burkett took the WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor after a conference-leading performance of 12.78 meters in the triple jump last week at the Spring Break Fiesta. The mark is a school record and the sixth best nationally.
Lopes sophomore
Ben Moffett won WAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor after a javelin performance of 67.26 meters in Tucson. The mark is the best in the conference this season and 15th best nationally.
GCU's outdoor season returns to Tucson on Friday and Saturday for the Willie Williams Classic.
