After eight seasons leading Grand Canyon women's volleyball and bringing the program its first WAC Tournament championship, head coach
Tim Nollan is stepping down to accept the head coaching position at Northwestern.
A national search to find GCU's next women's volleyball head coach is underway. Associate Head Coach
Jeff Liu will serve as the program's point of contact.
"I would like to thank Vice President of Athletics Jamie Boggs and President Brian Mueller for entrusting me with GCU women's volleyball," Nollan said. "We have accomplished great things here, and I know without a doubt this program will continue to grow and climb to new heights. I will always be a fan of the Lopes and will be watching from afar. The GCU family has been so special to me and my family. I have said over and over it is the people that make a place special, and GCU is full of great ones."
Nollan flipped the Lopes into a winning program, posting a 24-6 record in his fourth season and going 95-36 (.725) in his final five seasons. In 2023, GCU claimed its first WAC Tournament championship and qualified for the program's first NCAA Divisoin I tournament.
"We knew Coach Nollan would be a great head coach when we first hired him eight years ago," Boggs said. "He led us to our first conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance while establishing a strong team culture that aligns with our Christian mission. We will miss him not only as our head coach but as a wonderful person and caring friend. We wish Tim, Kristen and the entire Nollan family the best, and they will always be a part of our Lope family."
