Senior week provides important 3-game stand

The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team faces Utah Tech for a Thursday night battle between WAC squads tied for second place. Senior Day will be Saturday against Seattle U at Global Credit Union Arena. The Lopes will head to Riverside, California, for the final road match of the WAC regular season Monday.

THINGS TO KNOW

GCU graduate Mykenna Nelson earned WAC Libero of the Week after collecting 39 digs (6.5 per set) and seven assists in six sets. The 21 digs in the GCU sweep over Tarleton State was her season best for a three-set match.
Senior middle blocker Trista Strasser ranks 15th nationally in total blocks (120).
The Lopes rank second in the WAC and 12th nationally in team blocks with 247.
Lopes junior outside hitter Tatum Parrott ranks 19th in points per set with 5.03.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lopes faced UT Arlington in the WAC opener without GCU Division I-era kills leader Tatum Parrott. The all-time series is tied at three wins each.
GCU is 3-0 against Tarleton State in Phoenix, winning nine of 10 sets.

SCOUTING

Utah Tech is on a five-match winning streak. The Lopes defeated the Trailblazers 3-1 in St. George, Utah, on Oct. 10.
The Lopes have not played Seattle U since the first road match of WAC play when GCU was victorious 3-1 behind freshman setter Taylor Kubacak's 44 assists, 17 digs and seven kills.
Monday will mark the Lopes' second trip and third match in Riverside, California, this season as the Lopes went 2-0 in the Big West/WAC Challenge on Sept. 20-21. The Lancers visited Phoenix on Oct. 7 when Parrott led GCU to a sweep, hitting .407 for 14 kills.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Lopes return home from California Baptist to play the last match of the season against Abilene Christian on Nov. 14 before the WAC Tournament begins on Nov. 21 in Arlington, Texas.
