The Grand Canyon men's golf team will wrap up its fall campaign with The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate, a two-day tournament starting Monday at The Preserve Golf Club in Carmel, California.
Play begins Monday morning with 36 holes, followed by the third and final round Tuesday morning.
The field includes 13 teams, seven of which rank in the top 50 of the most recent Scoreboard NCAA Division I men's golf rankings. No. 10 Utah, No. 15 UCLA, No. 37 Long Beach State, No. 38 Oregon, No. 45 San Diego State, No. 47 California and No. 48 LMU join the Lopes in Carmel.
GCU enters just outside the top 50 at No. 56, with Cal Poly, Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon State and Cal Poly's "B" team rounding out the field.
The Lopes have placed in the top five in each of their three tournaments during a fall campaign that began in early September. GCU is coming off a fourth-place outing at the Visit Stockton Invitational, highlighted by sophomore
Gavin O'Neill tying for fifth place overall.
The same starting five will participate for the Lopes, with O'Neill joined by graduate
Tommaso Zorzetto, senior
Kiko Coelho and freshmen
Nixon Lauritzen and
Matthew Diehl. Senior
Josh McCabe will also compete as an individual.
