Grand Canyon senior
Abbie Hughes and junior
Allison Hansen were named second-team All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.Â

"Abbie and Alli are so deserving of All-American," Lopes head coach
Kristen Rohr said. "They have been playing the toughest competition in the country and constantly proving that they are a top team. They are a huge reason for our success this year, and I couldn't be happier for them."
Hughes, a Coastal Collegiate Sports Association All-Academic selection, and Hansen, a USA Beach Collegiate National Team choice, have led the No. 7 Lopes (26-7) to this weekend's NCAA tournament with a

program record-tying 26 wins, knocking off No. 2 TCU and No. 6 LSU in their first CCSA Tournament last weekend to finish second. During the regular season, the pair posted a 15-4 record on Court 1, defeating No. 18 Pepperdine (March 18), No. 15 FIU (March 24), and No. 9 Calfornia (March 24, April 22).
This year, the first and second teams included 16 members each, with the 32 student-athletes honored representing 15 schools. This marks the 11th year that the AVCA has selected AVCA Collegiate Beach All-Americans. Award selections are made by the AVCA Collegiate Beach All-America Committee after Division I coaches reviewed and nominated athletes.
GCU is scheduled to compete in the NCAA tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on Friday at noon (Phoenix time) against No. 10 Stanford.Â
