Grand Canyon's final road trip of the 2023 regular season is its longest: an 11-day, seven-game, three-opponent Texas swing that begins with a three-game conference set at Tarleton beginning on Friday night. The Lopes are riding win streaks of four games overall and five games in conference play.

The series opener and series finale will be on ESPN+, while Saturday's middle game will be broadcast on WACinternational.TV (free account required).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

REACHIN' BASE: GCU freshman first baseman Zach Yorke has compiled an impressive freshman campaign, and he is currently riding a team-best 26-game reached-base streak. With a walk late in Tuesday's game against Arizona, Yorke matched junior shortstop Jacob Wilson for the longest such streak by a Lopes player this year. With one more game, Yorke's streak would reach 27 games which would be longest since Preston Pavlica reached in 30 consecutive games in 2019. Looking ahead, a streak longer than 30 games hasn't been accomplished by a GCU player since Joey Bristyan in 2011.
PITCHING OF LATE: Lopes pitching has been clicking of late, limiting opponents to five runs on 16 hits in the last three games combined for a staff earned run average of 1.50. GCU strung together 18 consecutive scoreless innings spanning the first and second games at Nevada and two innings into Tuesday's game against Arizona. GCU is 20-4 when holding its opponent to five or less runs.
NO K ZONE: Jacob Wilson has returned to a familiar position: atop the nation's leaderboard as the toughest batter to strike out. Wilson finished his sophomore campaign as the nation's leader. In 2023, Wilson had struck out four times by March 4 but has only struck out one time since, climbing his way back atop the category.

SCOUTING

Tarleton is experiencing its best Division I season in its third year transitioning from the Division II ranks with a chance to post a winning record and fight for a trip to the WAC tournament.

The Texans hit .300 as a team but their most eye-popping statistic is in the run game with 92 stolen bases, among the nation's top 20 teams.

Tarleton is coming off of a series loss at Seattle U. It has swept a conference series against New Mexico State, won two of three from California Baptist, lost one game of a weather-challenged series at Utah Valley, lost two of three to UT Arlington and Seattle U, and got swept by Stephen F. Austin and UT Rio Grande Valley.
