The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team will open its first Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Beach Volleyball Championship appearance with a first-round match against South Carolina on Thursday.
The seventh-ranked Lopes (23-6) were seeded No. 4 in the power-laden conference that released the tournament bracket Saturday. GCU will play the tournament's first dual match against No. 16 South Carolina (19-10), seeded fifth in the tournament. The Lopes and Gamecocks will meet for the first time since 2020, when GCU evened the all-time series at 2-2 with a victory in the Hilton Head Invitational.
The victor of that Thursday match at 7:30 a.m. (Phoenix time) will advance and play again Thursday against TCU (31-1), the conference's No. 1 seed and the nation's second-ranked team, at 10:30 a.m. (Phoenix time) at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex. The first-round match's loser will move into the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament on Friday.
The championship final will be played Saturday at 11:30 a.m. (Phoenix time).
General admission attendance is free to all dual matches, which will start all five courts simultaneously. Each dual match will be broadcast live on Bally Sports and YouTube.
