The Grand Canyon men's golf team competes in its final event before the WAC Championship as it travels to El Macero, California, to partake in the three-day El Macero Classic at the El Macero Country Club from Friday to Sunday.
Twenty teams will compete on the par-72, 7,127-yard course with UC Davis as the host. GCU ranks 112th via Golfstat with notable teams No. 45 San Francisco, No. 47 San Diego, No. 51 California, No. 58 Long Beach State and No. 74 UCLA among this week's event field.
The tournament is the fifth of the spring for the Lopes, who are competing in the El Macero Classic for the third time in five seasons. GCU will field juniors
Tommaso Zorzetto and
Sam Murphy, senior
Matthew Braley, sophomore
Josh McCabe and junior
Craig Passmore. Murphy and Zorzetto recently tied for 38th at the Cowboy Classic with 15 birdies, as GCU placed higher than four WAC teams in the field.
