The Grand Canyon men's golf team and the GCU Golf Course plays host to 18 teams across the country in the GCU Invitational, with a two-day, three round competition beginning Monday morning.

It is the sixth edition of the GCU Invitational with the GCU Golf Course hosting the tournament every year since 2017. (*2020's GCU Invitational was scheduled but canceled due to COVID-19).

GCU ranks third highest among the 18-team field. The Lopes rank 114 in the country, with No. 29 TCU and No. 105 North Dakota State ahead in the latest Golfstat rankings. Among WAC schools competing include Abilene Christian, California Baptist and Utah Tech.

The home tournament is the second for the Lopes this spring, recently competing in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Kaua'I, Hawaii Feb. 16-17. GCU placed 12th out of 21 with senior
Matthew Braley leading the team with a T-10th finish at -10.

The Lopes will field five players to count toward its team score plus three individuals. The field will consist of 96 players.
