Three Grand Canyon beach volleyball student-athletes received Coastal Collegiate Sports Association accolades from the preseason conference coaches' poll, including junior defenderÂ
Allanis Navas and junior blockerÂ
Allison Hansen on the 10-player CCSA Preseason All-Conference Team and sophomore split blockerÂ
Jessica Drake on the six-player CCSA Watch List.
The Lopes joined the CCSA in October for their first official conference affiliation in their 11-year history and to be part of the strongest conference in the NCAA, alongside Florida State, LSU, Missouri State, South Carolina and TCU.Â

Navas, the Fan-Voted Player of the Year, partnered with Hansen to rewrite the single-season program record for victories with a 28-4 record in 2022. She finished the season as the second-ranked No. 2 pair in the nation with Hansen. Navas earned the most votes in the social media poll via Facebook and Twitter.
The Puerto Rico native also won a silver medal for Puerto Rico at NORCECA Punta Cana with Maria Gonzalez of TCU in December.

Hansen finished third at the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Fall Collegiate Beach Championships with seniorÂ
Abbie Hughes. Last season, she broke the GCU single-season wins record by team with Navas for 28.
This dynamic duo picked up wins over No. 13 Georgia State, No. 11 FAU, No. 5 LSU, No. 20 Tulane and UAB to win AVCA National Pair of the Week. They also earned the AVCA Top Flight Award for Court 2 with top-20 wins against No. 12/17 Arizona (twice), No. 2 UCLA, No. 11 Cal Poly, No. 13 Georgia State, No. 11 FAU, No. 5 LSU, No. 20 Tulane, No. 8 Hawaii (twice), No. 6 Loyola Marymount (twice), No. 11 Long Beach State and No. 8 Stanford.

Meanwhile, Drake redshirted for the Lopes last season but earned AVCA Junior Beach All-American honorable mention as an incoming redshirt freshman. The 5-foot-9 native of Fresno, California, is a former AVCA Junior All-America honorable mention.
GCU opens its season in Northridge, California, on Thursday, facing CSUNÂ (11 a.m., Phoenix time) and Concordia (1 p.m.) in Northridge, and will play Long Beach State (11 a.m.)Â and USC (1:15 p.m.) on Friday at USC.
