SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Grand Canyon women's tennis team pushed their winning streak to three matches with a 4-0 shutout over Santa Clara on Saturday.
The Lopes (3-5) were dominant from the opening serve winning the doubles point and taking three singles matches to clinch the shutout over the Broncos (0-5).
"So proud of the team and how they competed this whole weekend," head coach
Katarina Adamovic said. "We have been putting lots of emphasis on energy and doubles and we came here, competed like champs and delivered everything we've been working on."
GCU jumped ahead by taking the doubles point with wins on the top two courts. After Santa Clara won the first match of the day at court three 6-2 GCU even the doubles competition with a 6-1 win by senior

Santa Strombacha at court one. The top GCU duo has now won four straight matches.
The 1-0 lead was clinched by the Lopes with a win at court two. Graduate student
Madeline Lamoreaux and freshman
Anali Kocevar won a close 7-5 match to give GCU the early advantage.
In singles the Lopes took care of business with quick wins at three courts. Strombacha continued her strong play with her sixth straight win at No. 2 winning 6-2, 6-2 to put GCU up 2-0.
After Strombacha's win the bottom of the lineup stepped up and finished the match. Lamoreaux won 6-4, 6-3 at court five and the win was clinched by sophomore
Valentina Del Marco at court six with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Against San Jose State on Friday and the Broncos on Saturday five different players picked up singles wins on the road trip.
"We have different people stepping up and delivering points, and it will take everyone to continue stepping up in order for us to continue to build this championship mindset," Adamovic added.
The Lopes will be back in action next weekend at the GCU Tennis Facility against Weber State on Feb. 26 at 11 a.m.
