Parrott named to South Pacific All-Region team, Mitchell earns honorable mention
Grand Canyon sophomore outside hitter Tatum Parrott garnered Pacific South all-region status alongside graduate setter Klaire Mitchell, who received an honorable mention.
Parrott and Mitchell earned the program's first regional recognition after leading the Lopes (23-8) to their first WAC Tournament championship and achieving the program's first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
"I am so proud that the region has acknowledged the accomplishments of these two special players," Lopes head coach Tim Nollan said. "They helped lead us to a historic year and have built an incredible foundation for our program."

Parrott ranked sixth in the nation in points per set (5.47), seventh in kills per set (4.69), 18th in total kills (478) and 20th in total points (558) ahead of Friday's first-round NCAA tournament match against No. 10 Washington State, where she notched 12 kills with a .310 hitting percentage and added a solo block and a block assist for 13.5 points in her first NCAA tournament appearance. She had 19 matches with .300-plus hitting this season, including three versus top-50 opponents.
The Phoenix native joined Mitchell and senior outside hitter Ashley Lifgren on the WAC All-Tournament Team after swinging for a career-high 30 kills in the championship match, when she also posted 19 digs and a .357 hitting percentage. Parrott averaged 6.2 kills per set during the Lopes' WAC Tournament tear.
The sophomore continues to build quite the resume, claiming her third postseason conference honor and second consecutive All-WAC first-team honors after leading the WAC in kills (416), points per set (5.3) and kills per set (4.5), ranking 23rd, eighth and 10th in the nation, respectively, during the regular season. Parrott earned a spot on the WAC All-Freshman Team and was the only freshman on the All-WAC first team last year.
Parrott led the Lopes with 490 kills and 4.67 kills per set with .317 hitting while posting 215 digs, 66 blocks and 37 service aces.

Mitchell climbed to seventh nationally among active Division I setters for career assists (4,582) and capped her final season as one of three active players in the nation with at least 4,500 career assists and 1,100 career digs in Division I action, ranking 18th nationally in assists per set (10.63).
The graduate setter also broke the program's single-season assist record for the third time in her career, with 1,148 assists at the conclusion of the NCAA tournament first-round match versus No. 10 Washington State (27 assists).
Mitchell earned WAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after notching 49 assists and a career-high 25 digs in the final match, for one of her 12 double-doubles of the season. She tallied 116 assists (11.6 per set) and 40 digs during the tournament.
The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, native has collected nine WAC awards in her five years at GCU, including three WAC Setter of the Year awards (2019, 2020/21, 2023), four first-team All-WAC honors (2020/21, 2021, 2022, 2023), an All-WAC second-team recognition (2019) and WAC Freshman of the Year (2019).
Succeeding offensively and defensively this season, Mitchell tallied 1,148 assists, 283 digs, 68 total blocks, 56 kills and 41 service aces.
