The Grand Canyon men's and women's cross country teams hope to keep the momentum going Friday when they look to make noise at the WAC Championships in Abilene, Texas.
In their last meet at Santa Clara, the GCU men had impressive performances out of graduate transfer
Devin Provence and sophomore
Cannon Angotti. Both had personal bests. Angotti ran a time of 24 minutes 3.2 seconds while Provence ran 24:18.1.
On the women's side, redshirt sophomore
Hana Hall has continued to have a good year, showing lots of improvement from last year. Junior
Abby Scherer has been one of the consistent top finishers for the Lopes in a season that has had its ups and downs.

"We are excited to compete at the WAC Championships," Lopes head coach
Paul Limpf said. "Each year, this is a meet that we circle as one that we want to have our best performance at, and I believe the team is ready to have a breakthrough."
The WAC Championships will take place Friday at Zoe Park, which is located at 2051 E N 10th St. in Abilene, Texas. The men's championship (an 8,000-kilometer race) will commence at 6 a.m. (Phoenix time), followed by the women's championship (a 6K race) at 6:45 a.m. (Phoenix time). Attendance is free.
"The course should be flat and fast, but there is a possibility of a true cross country meet with muddy conditions from projected heavy rains," Limpf said. "No matter what the conditions are on Friday, the teams are excited for the opportunity."
