The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team prepares to host sixth-place Utah Valley on Thursday night in Antelope Gymnasium and 10th-place Seattle U in GCU Arena on Saturday. Thursday evening is "90's Throwback themed, while Saturday will feature post-match autographs and a "Dig Pink" theme.
3 THINGS TO KNOW
- Second-place GCU leads the WAC in aces per set (2.25), team service aces (151), and hitting percentage (.273), while also respectively ranking fourth, 11th and 20th nationally in those categories this season.
- Sophomore outside hitter Tatum Parrott leads the conference in aces per set (0.47), kills per set (4.47), points (344), and points per set (5.38); Parrott ranks seventh (points per set) and 13th (kills per set), 39th (aces per set), and 19th (points) in the nation this season.
- Graduate setter Klaire Mitchell recently surpassed 4,000 career assists and remains eighth nationally among active Division I setters for career assists (4,125). Mitchell also leads the WAC in assists per set
SCOUTING UTAH VALLEY
- Utah Valley enters the match on a three-game win streak after sweeping Seattle U and Southern Utah and defeating Utah Tech 3-1.
- The Wolverines do not lead the WAC in any statistical categories as a team or individually.
- Utah Valley carries a 16-5 record versus GCU, with a 7-2 home record and 7-3 road record; however, the Lopes have won three of the last five matchups, including the most recent, sweeping the Wolverines in Phoenix last November.
SCOUTING SEATTLE U
- Six of Seattle U's seven losses have been sweeps, with the exception of 1-3 loss to UT Arlington.
- The Redhawks do not lead the WAC in any statistical categories as a team or individually.
- The Lopes hold a 9-11 record against the Redhawks, with Seattle U winning the first nine matchups in program history, dating back to 2013, while GCU has won the most recent eight meetings, with six wins stemming from sweeps.
