Grand Canyon continues a season-long stretch of nine consecutive games away from Phoenix with a Tuesday night matchup at New Mexico.
The Lopes and Lobos have been frequent nonconference foes of recent history with Tuesday's game marking the seventh time in the last eight seasons that the programs have paired up for at least one game.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- THE RESUME:Â GCU enters the week with the nation's No. 30 Ratings Percentage Index and a No. 25 ranking by Perfect Game. GCU's strength of schedule is rated as the 19th toughest in the country. The Lopes have recorded four victories over top-10 opponents and sport a 5-3 record against top-25 opposition.
 - REILLY TO CLOSE: Lopes junior Vince Reilly had tough shoes to fill after drafted closer Frankie Scalzo posted 12 saves a year ago. Reilly is on Scalzo's heels with 10 saves, needing two more to match Scalzo's GCU Division I record. Reilly is coming off a three-inning scoreless appearance — where he was credited with his fifth win — to help the Lopes topple No. 7 Stanford. Reilly has either won or saved his last five appearances.
 - TAY BAM: GCU right fielder Tayler Aguilar hit his 10th home run of the season on Saturday, and it may have been his most dramatic. In a rare pinch-hit appearance for the junior, Aguilar awoke GCU's dormant offense with a two-run homer to put the Lopes in front of No. 7 Stanford late. Aguilar is only the fifth GCU batter to reach double digits in the home run category since the program returned to D-I in 2014.
SCOUTING
A new era of baseball is underway at New Mexico after legendary coach Ray Birmingham retired at the end of last season. The Lobos turned to North Dakota State head coach Tod Brown to lead the program.
The Lobos — per usual — are an offensive club. New Mexico has 149 extra-base hits, including 91 doubles (15th nationally) and 18 triples (eighth nationally). On the flip side, New Mexico's pitching staff has struggled with a staff ERA of 8.04 that ranks as one of the bottom 25 in the country. Part of that can be attributed to the Lobos playing 15 of their 39 games in the high altitude and wind of Albuquerque, where visiting teams are averaging 10.1 runs this season.
The Lopes and Lobos have played a few common opponents this year. Like GCU, New Mexico split its two encounters with Arizona. The Lopes went 2-0 against Texas Tech while New Mexico went 1-2. GCU took two of three from New Mexico State in Phoenix, while the Lobos have won both matchups against the Aggies with two more to go. Lastly, New Mexico dropped all three games to San Diego State while GCU split its two matchups with the Aztecs.
