The Grand Canyon women's tennis team wrapped up a three-match homestand with a 5-2 win over Eastern Washington.

After a rain delay that pushed the match back three hours, the Lopes (4-8) took the doubles point and four singles matches over the Eagles (3-10).

In doubles GCU was dominant winning at all three courts.
Valentina Del Marco and
Jana Weiss won by default at court three due to Eastern Washington having only five active players. The Lopes took care of the remaining doubles matches quickly, winning 6-0 on courts one and two.

Santa Strombacha extended their winning streak to five matches and now sit at an 8-2 record this season.

The Lopes lead grew to 2-0 with a default win at No. 6 by Del Marco at the start of singles. The Eagles were able to get on the board for the first time in the match with a win at No. 1 singles against Puehse. GCU responded with straight set wins by Strombacha at No. 3 and senior
Autum Prudhomme at No. 5 to clinch the team win.

Jana Weiss lost a close three-set match in a tiebreaker.

The Lopes now prepare for the start of Western Athletic Conference play with matches against Seattle U and Dixie State in Washington on April 1 and 2.
