Grand Canyon and Arizona State will begin a two-game season series on Tuesday night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- WILD WILSON: Jacob Wilson is on a tear. The sophomore shortstop just wrapped a five-game week that saw him go 18 for 23 (.783), string a streak of 10 straight hits, win WAC Hitter of the Week, win a pair of national hitting distinctions and raise his batting average from .309 to .429. Wilson also logged four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs. He ranks second nationally with 39 hits and 10th nationally with 31 RBIs.
- LOPES TO DATE: The computers like the Lopes. The NCAA's Ratings Percentage Index formula ranks GCU as the No. 23 team in the nation. Despite sweeping Utah Valley and splitting at RPI No. 16 Oregon State, the Lopes dropped six spots from No. 16 to 23 after the weekend.
- THE SERIES: Last year saw the highly anticipated resumption of a long-contested all-time series between Grand Canyon and Arizona State. Tuesday's meeting will mark the 115th matchup between the teams, spanning 70 years. Each squad won on its home field last year in games that were played on back-to-back nights.
SCOUTING
Arizona State turned to alumnus Willie Bloomquist to lead its program this offseason. The Sun Devils are off to a 9-12 start, having just opened conference play with a 1-2 record. ASU won weekend series against Dixie State, San Diego State and San Francisco, while dropping three-game sets to BYU and Oregon State.
Tuesday's matchup will mark the Sun Devils' seventh midweek tilt of the season, going 1-5 in such contests thus far.
Like the Lopes, ASU recently trekked to Corvallis, Oregon, for games with the No. 5 Beavers. The Sun Devils salvaged the third game of a weekend Pac-12 series in which they were outscored 34-5, including a 21-0 series opener.
ASU is scheduled to start its Friday night pitcher, junior Adam Tulloch, for brief work before turning things to the bullpen. Tulloch threw only 1 2/3 innings on Friday, surrendering seven earned runs and five walks on 73 pitches.
