Grand Canyon wraps a seven-game pause from WAC action with a two-game midweek series at No. 5 Oregon State beginning on Tuesday night. The Lopes and Beavers meet for the second straight year.

Both games will be available for free streaming on Pac-12.com.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

PAC-12 TANGLES: The Lopes face off against their second Pac-12 opponent of the season. On Feb. 22, GCU took down No. 11 Arizona 19-3 in Tucson. The Lopes will play the Wildcats twice more. Following this series with the Beavers, GCU will also take on Arizona State twice and Stanford twice. The Beavers also mark GCU's fourth NCAA tournament opponent so far this season.
BEEN AWHILE: While trips to Oregon's neighbors — California to the south and Washington to the north — have been much more common, the Lopes are making their first trip to the state since 2005.
CONTROL THE ZONE: Against a challenging schedule, GCU pitching has done one thing consistently: throw strikes. The Lopes rank 18th nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.57) and ninth in fewest walks per nine innings (2.70).

SCOUTING

Oregon State is off to one of the best starts in the nation, earning a No. 5 national ranking entering the week. The Beavers have only two losses on their resume, falling to UC Irvine at home on March 6 and dropping last weekend's conference-opening series finale to Washington State 9-8.

Beavers alumnus Mitch Canham is in his third season in the Oregon State dugout, replacing the legendary Pat Casey who retired after leading the Beavers to the 2018 national title. Canham had the Beavers in the NCAA tournament last year, advancing to the final game of the Forth Worth Regional before falling to Dallas Baptist.

Oregon State has boasted one of the nation's top offenses thus far, compiling a .333 team batting average that ranks fifth. The Beavers average nearly 10 runs per game, ranking 10th in scoring.

WHAT'S NEXT?

WAC play resumes back in Phoenix. The Lopes will host their first conference opponent of 2022, playing Utah Valley in a three-game series that gets underway on Friday night at GCU Ballpark.
