The No. 9 Grand Canyon men's volleyball team returns to GCU Arena for an important four-match homestand, starting with matches against No. 8 UC Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday nights.
GCU is coming off a midwest road trip that featured a 3-0 win at Loyola Chicago and a 3-2 loss at No. 6 Lewis.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- CAREER HIGH: Outside hitter Camden Gianni has had a great start to the regular season, leading the Lopes in kills and ranking inside the top five nationally in four categories. Against Lewis, Gianni hit another mark with 25 kills, a new career-high, while adding three blocks and four digs against Lewis.
- JANKE RETURNS: Fellow outside hitter Christian Janke returned to the starting lineup last week after missing the last eight games with an ankle injury. Janke didn't miss a beat with 27 kills on .310 hitting, 14 digs and three blocks against Loyola Chicago and Lewis.
- MPSF PLAY UPCOMING: After two matches against the Gauchos, the Lopes will begin Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with a pair of matches against No. 5 Pepperdine at GCU Arena on Feb. 18 and 20. GCU will then travel to BYU to wrap up the month on Feb. 25-26.
SCOUTING
UC Santa Barbara is coming off a three-set loss to No. 7 USC for its fifth straight match against ranked opponents. USCB has picked up four wins against other ranked opponents, including No. 2 Pepperdine on Feb. 4. The Gauchos are coming off a historic season in wihch they won the Big West Tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in a decade.
Junior outside hitter Ryan Wilcox leads the Gauchos with 92 kills while middle blocker Donovan Todorov ranks second in the country with 1.50 blocks per set.

- The Lopes host No. 5 Pepperdine on Feb. 18 and 20 in GCU Arena.
